How to repair inflatable products

Step 1: While product is inflated, LOCATE THE LEAK or tear area.

Step 2: If puncture is not easy to see, USE THE SOAPY WATER TEST. Mix 3 parts water to 1 part soap. The leak will create small bubbles.

Step 3: CUT A PATCH TO FIT at least 1” larger on all sides. Use rounded edges to ensure optimal repair quality.

Step 4: CLEAN THE AREA with a cloth that contains rubbing alcohol.

Step 5: MARK THE AREA with a marker, crayon or wax pencil and then deflate the product.

Step 6: BRUSH PVC GLUE within the marked area. Spread a consistent amount and let dry completely.

Step 7: REPEAT STEP 6 on the back of the patch. Let dry completely. Wet glue will not stick to wet glue.

Step 8: ASSEMBLE TOOLS: Prepare the heat gun (or hair dryer) and squeegee.

Step 9: Wait until the glue on both surfaces turns to a matte finish.

Step 10: WARM THE AREAS with a heat gun to activate the glue. Should be warm, not hot.

Step 11: PRESS THE PATCH EVENLY onto the damaged area on a smooth, hard surface.

Step 12: USE THE SQUEEGEE to work out air bubbles from the center to the edges.

Step 13: THE PATCH IS FINISHED. Wait 24 hours before inflating the product.

Step 14: After 24h, INSPECT THE REPAIR with soapy water to check for bubbles.

Step 15: CHECK VALVE LEAKS. Small bubbles indicate valve-tightening is required.

Step 16: TIGHTEN THE VALVE using the tool. Turn left to loosen, right to re-tighten.
